And so here i am, sitting in front of the computer, nothing figured out, longing for freedom. So what does that say about me?

I beg young people to travel. If you don’t have a passport, get one. Take a summer, get a backpack and go to Delhi, go to Saigon, go to Bangkok, go to Kenya. Have your mind blown. Eat interesting food. Dig some interesting people. Have an adventure. Be careful. Come back and you’re going to see your country differently, you’re going to see your president differently, no matter who it is. Music, culture, food, water. Your showers will become shorter. You’re going to get a sense of what globalization looks like. It’s not what Tom Friedman writes about; I’m sorry. You’re going to see that global climate change is very real. And that for some people, their day consists of walking 12 miles for four buckets of water. And so there are lessons that you can’t get out of a book that are waiting for you at the other end of that flight. A lot of people—Americans and Europeans—come back and go, ohhhhh. And the light bulb goes on.

Holy shit! So there’s this store that sells clothes, very high end and super fancy that I found a few weeks ago. The lady behind the counter was nice enough to offer me and my friend a job, I was excited with the prospect of actually working. She told us that she’ll give me and my friend a call if they ever need us and asked for our numbers. I didn’t give much thought to it and left the store. Fast forward to today, I got a text from a certain someone and boy was I in for a shock, he that told me the store hired hi, and found my name, written on a piece of paper in their drawer. My first thought was, oh that’s great. Up until he told me he was paid $18/per day. Boy was I pissed! I’ve heard a few of my friends working day-in day-out, lifting heavy loads and doing manual labor that is paid less than that. Bitch I am angry and bitches is going to die tonight.

TOM FORD’S TOP 5 TIPS ON HOW TO BE A GENTLEMAN:
1. You should put on the best version of yourself when you go out in the world because that is a show of respect to the other people around you.
2. A gentleman today has to work. People who do not work are so boring and are usually bored. You have to be passionate, you have to be engaged and you have to be contributing to the world.
3. Manners are very important and actually knowing when things are appropriate. I always open doors for women, I carry their coat, I make sure that they’re walking on the inside of the street. Stand up when people arrive at and leave the dinner table.
4. Don’t be pretentious or racist or sexist or judge people by their background.
5. A man should never wear shorts in the city. Flip-flops and shorts in the city are never appropriate. Shorts should only be worn on the tennis court or on the beach.
